SALT LAKE THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY WILL HOLD CONVOCATION ON SUNDAY AUGUST 28, 2005

Dr. Donald McCullough to be installed as the seminary’s second president

Salt Lake City, August 22, 2005 – On Sunday August 28 at 4:00 PM, Salt Lake Theological Seminary will celebrate Convocation and the installation of its new president at First Presbyterian Church, located at South Temple and ‘C’ Street in Salt Lake City.

“Convocation is the calling together of the members of the academic community and is a common event for an institution to hold at the beginning of each school year,” explains Board Chairman Dr. Jeffrey Silliman. “This year, as we being Fall Semester we have a very special event to celebrate at Convocation: the installation of Dr. Donald McCullough as the seminary’s second President.”

Dr. McCullough was appointed by the board in November 2004 and has been fulfilling the role of seminary President since then. He holds a Ph.D. in Systematic Theology from the University of Edinburgh and a Master of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. He is an ordained minister within the Presbyterian Church USA, and for eighteen years, he pastored two congregations in Washington and California. Dr. McCullough is former President of San Francisco Theological Seminary, where he also taught as Professor of Theology and Preaching. An accomplished author, he has written several books and numerous journal and magazine articles.

Special guest speaker at Convocation will be Dr. Eugene Peterson, Professor Emeritus of Regent College, Vancouver and author of the best selling contemporary translation of the Bible entitled The Message. All members of the public are invited to attend the ceremony and the reception that follows.
