Personal Background

Ken was born in Mississippi. While in university he became a follower of Jesus, and after graduation felt God's calling to formally study the Bible and theology. Upon completion of his seminary work he joined the staff of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, doing pioneer campus ministry in Utah. After a five year stint with InterVarsity, he again returned to graduate school, this time at Regent College in Vancouver, B.C. where he studied with Dr. J. I. Packer. In 1984 Ken was the founding president of what was to become Salt Lake Theological Seminary. Ken is an elder at First Presbyterian Church in Salt Lake City.

Why I teach at Salt Lake Theological Seminary

I teach at Salt Lake Theological Seminary because I am utterly convinced that the path to spiritual maturity begins with a solid knowledge of the Word of God. Church history, my specialty, provides a window to understand how Christians across the ages have understood and applied the Bible. Therefore, church history serves as a corrective to help us move beyond the "parochialism of time" and to challenge our own pet theories and theologies.
